The students at Colorado School of Mines are among the top in the nation, and we are fortunate to have over 200 undergraduates and nearly 40 graduate students in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences.

Our students excel in many activities outside the classroom such as athletics, music or any number of the student organizations offered here at Mines. They may play hard, but they also work hard. Our students are active in both undergraduate and graduate research, while still finding time to participate in various extracurricular activities such as the M-climb (pictured at right) or E-Days.

Among the professional organizations in which our students participate are:

• Association for Computing Machinery - an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, science and applications of information technology.
• CSM Math Club - with local chapters of both Kappa Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor society and (as of this year) Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the CSM Math Club seeks to honor those outstanding math students as well as further the education and interest in applied mathematics.
• Graduate Student Association - a graduate organization that exists to serve he interests of CSM graduate students.
