Teachers
Project Description
As a participant in
this project you would become part of an instructional team that
includes practicing teachers, college faculty members, and a graduate
student. These teams will work together to develop problem centered,
interdisciplinary learning environments for sixth through eighth grade
students that are attending schools in Aurora Public Schools. The
Colorado School of Mines will provide a summer workshop that addresses
mathematical, scientific and engineering content and instructional
pedagogy. Graduate students will provide direct assistance to
participating teachers in the classroom throughout the school year.
Time Commitment

Four summer workshops will be provided in the years 2007, 2008, 2009, and
2010. This year's workshop will be in July, exact dates to be determined. All
project participants are required to attend this workshop. During this
workshop, you will work directly with graduate teaching fellows at the Colorado School of Mines.

Throughout the academic year, you will mentor a graduate teaching fellow in the
classroom for a total of 10-15 hours per week ("model 1") or for a total of 5-7 hours per week ("model 2").

Throughout the academic year, you will meet with your graduate teaching fellow to
provide them guidance in the teaching process and to jointly plan classroom instruction.
Benefits

$4500 per year honorarium.

Option of earning continuing education credits at CSM (for an additional cost).

Earn continuing education credits at the Colorado School of Mines (CSM).

A CSM Graduate student (Ph.D. candidate) providing direct classroom assistance throughout the academic year.
